A Letter from a Wise Woman of Conviction and Faith

For without the Lord, our efforts shall surely Fail. I appreciate opportunity to read and know about this. I commend you for your tenacity, and, I hope you will follow with a complaint to the Judiciary Disciplinary Board.

Unless, and until, individuals have such experiences before these officials and are affected by their actions or inaction, they have no idea what the experience is like, I've been there and done that!! While in the long run the experience has it's advantages somewhat, it is expensive and hard on the soul at the time, but it strengthens you forever for what comes down the pike. One cannot put a price on the value of such, it is hard to add to such, and it can never be taken away once it happens.

I am a firm believer in some of the reckoning taking place here on earth and not entirely left to the hereafter. One of my sons once said, who is a passive person generally, that 'Revenge belonged to the Lord', to which I responded, but. 'we are tools of the Lord and as such we make his revenge even sweeter', we would not want to disappoint the Lord!

Stand up and be counted as we were taught from the old and then from the new. We must stand for our convictions lest we be over ran by greed!

The letter below came to us from one of the persons who wished to appear before the Grand Jury but was denied the right by General Jimmy Dunn

We wonder, would the Grand Jury have taken different actions if General Dunn would have not prevented the testmony of those who have first hand knowledge?

A Plea from the Sevier County Jail Sick Inmates;

First I would like too inform the citizens off Sevier County that what you are about too read are facts and that I say what I mean and I mean what I say and I am not exaggerating any of these statements and that the only reason I am writing this article is to try and correct what is a very bad situation at the Sevier County jail.

The Sixth Circuit has held that prison officials who have been alerted to a prisoner’s serious medical needs are under an obligation to offer medical care to such a prisoner. Johnson II v. Karnes, 398 F.3d 868, 874 (6thCir. 2005).

Medical infirmary Sick or lame inmates are brought to a 12 by 20 foot holding cell #27. That on an average day houses nine too twelve inmates, There are no medical beds, or tables to eat on, They all share one toilet and sink no matter what their ailments are which include Staph infections, Hepatitis, food poisonings, STD, broken bones, Heck! One man had a whole in his head that was leaking fluids. Anyways I guess you can get the point I am trying to make.

Facts about Holding cell medical Units In the Sevier County Jail;

Although the Jail has a cell designated for isolating inmates for medical reasons, this cell is not designed to house patients it is a cell designed for temporarily holding inmates that are to be housed in the Jail or as a drunk tank, there are no medical facilities in the cell

Facts;

1) No Medical Beds, Sick Inmates need to bed down on old torn up mattresses with frayed and cracked coverings as well as open tears and ripped out stuffing on a concrete floor for days, weeks and in some cases even months which causes disease and bacteria to spread.

2) It takes up to 24 hours, and up too one week for a sick inmates medical care request forms to be answered by the jails medical staff, even though they are already in a so called medical unit where they should be under constant medical attention.

3) There is not a nurse available 24 hours a day.

4) These sick inmates are locked down 23 hours a day and if they are lucky enough they may get some fresh air once a month outside for one hour. If they act up they lose their shower privileges for 76 hours.

5) When sick inmates get ragged up because they are not getting proper medical attention Officers and Sgt’s Freezby and Kitelinger Come in the unit with Pepper spray and tazer guns and torture them causing further damage to their already sick bodies.

6) Staph infected inmates are housed in the same so called medical unit with uninfected inmates, sharing the same air, toilets, sinks etc.

7) Sick inmates need to sit on the floor to eat their meals because there are no tables or chairs provided for them because these holding cells are not designed for inmates to live in more than a few hours. Nevertheless Sheriff Ron Seals allows these cells to be deemed medical units in his jail.

8) Food trays and garbage is often left in the cells for over a 24 hour period and toilets and sinks are not properly sanitized daily which helps spread disease and bacteria.

A Plea to the Public;

My friends, I could go on and on about the conditions in the Sevier County jails holding cells that Sheriff Ronald Seals deems to be (safe adequate medical units). However, I feel the need to address the public for help. I feel that if we all get together to help right the wrong doings that our Sheriff continues to allow to go on in his jail, we can make a difference. Inmates are suffering as you read my words of truth. We need to do something fast before another inmate dies at the sevier county jail.

This Editoral was to be posted to celebrate when we reached 30,000, but being a site that is ran in spare time, we were unable to get it posted. Below is the beginning of the text, the remainder is provided by PDF link. Mr. Lowe hits the nail on the head. We need to have the State Comptroller do an in depth accounting of all of our County Insurance! Who stuck there finger in that pie?

Editoral by Brad Lowe;

In a recent Mountain Press, Sheriff Ron “Hoss” Seals was asked to comment on the recent number of lawsuits which had been filed against him and the Sevier County Sheriffʼs Department over the treatment and conditions inside the Sevier County Jail. With no less than a second to think, Sheriff Seals quickly replied that, “we will turn it over to our insurance carrier.” The problem with Sheriff Sealʼs response is simple. What insurance carrier?
