What is next for Chief Meyers? Ut Oh.
There will be some interesting things come up around August of 2008. The City of Sevierville can't seem to make up its mind what to do about the arbitrary and capricious conduct of some of its officials. Now information is coming to light that shows tampering of evidence in a criminal case.
Seviercorruption.com has also learned that the City has issued a citation to a Sheriff's candidate for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident. We here know that a County Dump truck full of Gravel turned over on Dunn Hollow Road just off of Old Knoxville Highway. Will Chief Meyers make sure that the Driver of that County owned vehicle get a citation too?
We believe in evenhanded enforcement of the law.
We will stay on top of that story and keep you informed, until then, look into the crystal ball and see what is coming in August. I wonder if the City will lose its accreditation for all of the support it is giving Hoss Seals in the Sheriff's race in violation of the Election Code? Time will tell.
Happy reading!

Subject: Sevierville Police Department (Tennessee)
Mr. Hyater
Does CALEA investigate instances in which cruiser cam video tapes have been altered in any way? My question relates to an arrest and vehicle searh tape acquired from the Sevierville Police Department that omitted audio and much of the entire video (from mid-search) of a vehicle. This seems to be a common occurrence with this department and we are looking for a solution. Can you be of any help with this issue, or does it need to be presented to the TBI or FBI? Thank you for your time.
Garry L. Cate
The only authority this commission has as it relates to investigating an agency for volitions of this type is to make recommendations to the full Commission to sanction the agency or remove their accredited status. Sevierville will be up for reaccreditation in August of this year. The review of this agency’s accredited status requires that the agency has a public hearing and a telephone call in session for those persons who wish to remain anonymous. Since the Commission will have persons there to look into standard related issues, they can look into your complaint and make a recommendation. I encourage you to participate in either event to air your concerns.
Sevierville Police Chief Decides: What Do I Do Now?
Sevierville, TN 01-04-08. Today, Sevierville police Chief, Don Myers, is making a tough call. Day before yesterday he received an email from Mr. Dennis Hyater. Mr. Hyater's email was to inform the Chief that a complaint was about to be filed against the Sevierville Police Department with CALEA. CALEA are the folks who accredit the Sevierville Police Department. An accredited Police Department must follow the standards established by the Accreditation Board. The problem appears to be that the City of Sevierville, or political powers therein have used their power to prevent the taking of a police report about the removal of Sheriff Candidate Brad Lowe's signs.
The City of Sevierville granted permission to Mr. Lowe to place his signs and then recanted that approval, recanted the re incantation then recanted again. Did you get that?
Looks like we don't know who is in charge or who really controls things in Sevierville. Mayor Brian Atchley is recorded saying that the City would not remove the signs after notice was sent that the signs would be removed on December 5, 2007. Alderman Jerry Loveday said that if Mr. Lowe's signs were not so big, it would not have been a problem.
The question looms; Will the Sevierville Police Department follow procedure and issue a police report showing who removed the signs violating Tennessee Code 54-5-136? Or will that Chief take the chance to have the Accreditation of the Police Department drawn into question. Only time will tell!

Mr. Hyater,
A few weeks ago, I along with Sevier County Sheriffs Candidate Mr. Brad
Lowe noticed that some of his campaign signs which had been placed
inside the City Limits of the City of Sevierville were stolen. We
first went to see Judicial Commissioner Mr. Thomas L. Randles. After
hearing our issue, Mr. Randles called the Sevierville Police Department
and ask for an officer to come to his office to take a report. When
the officer arrived, he refused to take the report. Mr. Randles then
sent us to the Sevierville Police Department where we spoke with the
Captain on duty. The Captain on duty refused to allow the Department
to take the report.
We had received permission from the City of Sevierville to place the signs
and even have a voice recording from the Mayor stating that the signs
were not to be and would not be disturbed by the City. It now appears
that officials of the City, in violation of the State Election Code,
have chosen to use the power of their office, the power of the Police
Department and others, to refuse to take a report and subvert the
administration of Justice for political reasons.
The determination of the legality of the signs should be determined by
a court of competent jurisdiction. It is clear that the actions of the
City of Sevierville, or of members of the Sevierville Police Department
are arbitrary and capricious.
I, and Mr. Lowe would appreciate it if you agency could look into this
matter and inform us under what authority an accredited police
department can refuse to take a police report. It is clear to us that
the Judicial Commissioner is awaiting such report, and we desire to
pursue this matter in the courts as the value of the property taken was
over $500.00 in total.
Your help in this matter is appreciated. If you need clarification or more
information, let me know. I am forwarding this communication to Mr.
Lowe by CC.
I am,
Clark King
